Scheduling Sex: The Answer to Making Baby #2?

So far, scheduling sex — just like we schedule everything else in our lives — has kept us on track. My husband and I have shared our schedules on Google calendar so we can map out everything from eating breakfast and taking a shower to an important business phone call…and now our TTC time. This system is also a good way to keep track of when I’m ovulating so we can time it all just right.

Another bonus to our sex schedule? We can plan for our son to be with family or friends for a sleepover (or even just a long afternoon out) while we have sex. It’s so much easier to get it on when we don’t have to worry about what he’s getting into. And I don’t care what kind of lock system you have on your bedroom door; knowing that your child is in the next room (even if he’s supposed to be asleep) can be distracting. If we didn’t have family nearby (or if they weren’t available), then we’d get a sitter to take him to the park or to the movies or both! The more time we spend TTC the better, right?

I’ve also made a point to schedule “me” time to prep for our TTC time. I paint my toes, take a long bath, and maybe even do a little ladyscaping. It makes such a difference for me when I have taken the time to take care of myself. I am more relaxed, and I feel sexy by the time I head into the bedroom.

Scheduling out time to have sex might seem silly, and at first I thought it wouldn’t be necessary, but it has made such a difference for us. We are less worried about getting pregnant because it’s scheduled into our lives and we know we will be doing what we need to be doing when we need to be doing it. It’s amazing what a little planning can do!

Did you schedule sex when you were TTC?
