Pool Noodle Crafts: 3 Creative Ideas for Repurposing

Pool Noodle Obstacle Course

pool noodle obstacle course final

This can be a fun fall activity for a birthday party or classroom. Set up the obstacle course however you want and let the kids run through it. Rearrange the course and let them run it again!

Supplies:

  • about 20 pool noodles
  • about 10 plastic or metal stakes, with a rounded (not sharp) edge on top

Instructions:

Step 1: Put 2 small stakes into the ground about 2 feet apart horizontally at the beginning of the course, and push the pool noodles down over each of the stakes to form an arch for the kids to jump over. Repeat this with 2 to 3 more pool noodles and stakes. Make sure the tops of the stakes are rounded and not sharp in case the kids fall on them.

Step 2:  Press 3 to 4 more stakes in a line, about 2 feet apart, and place a pool noodle upright on each of the stakes for the children to weave in and out of.

Step 3: Place 2 to 3 noodles horizontally on the ground for kids to hop over.

Step 4: Place 6 to 8 pool noodles folded into a circle and fastened with a plastic tie (like the hopscotch noodles), 2 wide, for the kids to hop through.

Step 5: Let the kids start at the beginning and jump over, weave around, hop over, and hop through the course. It’s wonderful for building coordination and great fun to do!
