NoseFrida Review: Cold Season is Coming – Are You Ready?

I thought I knew it all before becoming a madre. But as all of us who have entered the path to motherhood know, there are just some things you can’t prepare for until you’re there. Like hearing your baby’s first cry or laugh. Or experiencing your baby’s first cold.

Their helpless little selves become even more helpless, and the lack of communication just makes it so difficult, frustrating, and mostly sad all-around. And while I thought I’d be preparada when my baby got sick for the first time, we quickly realized we knew nada. The thermometer did its job and the humidifier that everyone swore by seemed OK, but that nose bulb thing that looks like a baby torture device? Well, it just brought on tears without much satisfaction of a job well done. It mostly just caused a tug of war that was not worth the amount of snot that it actually removed from my son Oliver’s nose (sidenote: snot is another one of those things that you don’t realize that there will be so much of until after you become a mom. Yes, sus hijos también will be snot-filled at some point).

While we got through that first cold and learned how to ride the waves, I felt there had to be a better way to clear up my son’s nose next time we hit an inevitable cold again. Somewhere along the way, I heard about NoseFrida, the snot sucker. While it sounds kind of strange (and gross) at first,  I recommend it to all of my friends who are having babies! A must for any household with kids.

Invented in Sweden by doctors, the NoseFrida snotsucker is a nasal aspirator with an end that goes in your child’s nariz and another red end that goes in your mouth (yes, you suck the snot out). Despite the way it sounds, it’s 100% hygienic due to the filters included (4 come in the package and then you can buy refills once you’re done). All pieces are removable and completely washable. Just warm soap and water will do.

With cold season coming up I’d suggest going online and getting one of your very own. You’re welcome!
