Must Make New Year’s Resolutions For Busy Moms

New Years ResolutionsWhen it comes to making New Year’s resolutions for busy moms, keeping them practical is best.

We all have the best intentions and the strongest commitments, until the second week of January of course, when the momentum has died down.

So what are some practical resolutions, grounded in reality that could really get your New Year off to a great start?

1. Schedule in 30 minutes each day for you.

Whether you set your alarm clock to get up a ½ hour before the rest of the family or spend 30 minutes locked in the bathroom each night soaking in the tub, make it a priority to set aside time each day for you. If you don’t take care of yourself you won’t be able to take care of the others who really need you.

2. Cut back on your email.

Remove yourself from mailing lists, unsubscribe from department store advertisements and opt out of optional communications. Scrolling through unnecessary emails seems harmless, until we get sucked in to the biggest sale or latest tabloid news story. It ends up costing us time and money.

3. Delegate one task.

Perhaps you go to the dump instead of opting for trash pickup. Or you always do the grocery shopping. Consider hiring an extra set of hands to take one task off of your to do list each week. If that’s not an option you can afford, ask your partner to take on your most hated weekly task.

4. Have a monthly date night.

To have a thriving relationship, there needs to be a concerted effort to nurturing it. Whether you head out for dinner, watch a movie together after the kids have gone to bed or walk around the park with a cup of coffee in hand, do something each month together. It doesn’t have to be elaborate or costly. Spending grownup time together is what’s important.

5. Eat dinner together as a family more often.

Sitting around the family table and sharing a meal brings the family closer together. Make a commitment to eat together more often. Doing so provides an opportunity to conversation and bonding, which contribute to happy, healthy families.
