Stand Up To Cancer

As humans find ways to live longer the likelihood of being diagnosed, or knowing someone who is diagnosed with cancer grows exponentially. It is easy to feel overwhelmed, even helpless when faced with statistics like these but there are numerous groups who are charging ahead, fighting cancer. One such organization, Stand Up To Cancer, is tapping into the vast entertainment industry in order to raise awareness and much needed funding for ground breaking research into new cancer therapies. Their reach extends to celebrities, television networks (on September 10, 2010 all three major networks donated one hour of commercial free time for a telethon), MLB-who encourages fans to donate, as well as individuals from all walks of life.

But even with this support there is still more that can and needs be done. The SU2C website is an invaluable resource to learn how you can get involved. Whether you are donating time or money, or just joining their social media network, every little counts.

Unfortunately it is next to impossible to find someone who has not been affected by cancer in some way. I personally have lost two extremely close family friends who were like uncles to me, a high school classmate, and a grandparent, all to cancer. Cancer does not discriminate, it attacks everyone no matter what your race, socio economic standing or nationality is, now is the time to attack it back. Visit the SU2C website and check out the numerous ways you can contribute to the fight against cancer. If we stand together we can win!
