  • Father's Day Grilled Steak Nachos Recipe (Quick and Easy for the Kids to Make Dad!) - Momtastic

If you ask my husband what he wants for breakfast, lunch, or dinner (even if it's Thanksgiving), he'll very likely say nachos. Nachos are by far his favorite meal, and our boys are super excited to make this steak nachos recipe for him on Father's Day. They're quick, easy, and super fun for them to prepare. This recipe uses their dad's favorite ingredients, but have your kids ask their dad his favorites. Maybe he likes really spicy slasa, beans, or a special cheese? Kids love making dishes "to order," especially for Dad on Father's Day.

This nacho recipe for Dad is perfectly customizable and easy for the kids to prepare!

    Prep Time:
    Cook time:
    Servings: 4 to 6

    • rib-eye steak: 1 (8-ounce) steak
    • olive oil: about 2 teaspoons
    • salt and pepper: to taste
    • salted corn tortilla chips: 6 cups
    • Dad's favorite cheese, grated: 2 ½ cups
    • Dad's favorite salsa: 1 cup
    • ripe avocado, thinly sliced: ½, large

Step 1: Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F, and adjust a rack to the center.

Step 2: Cook the steak. Preheat a stove-top grill or sauté pan. Place the steak on a plate and generously season both sides with salt and pepper, and drizzle with the olive oil. Place the steak on the grill or in the sauté pan. You should hear a sizzling sound right away. If you don't, wait until it's hotter and listen for the sizzle! Keep the heat at medium-high and cook the steak to the desired doneness. For medium-rare, cook for about 3 minutes per side.(The bottom should be very nicely browned before you flip it over.) Remove the steak and place it on a plate, cover with foil, and let it rest while the remaining ingredients are being prepared.

Step 3: Pour the chips into an approximately 9 x 13 x 2 inch baking pan, and spread them out evenly.

Step 4: Pour the grated cheese over the chips.

Step 5: Gently use your hands to mix the cheese throughout the chips.

Step 6: Thinly slice the cooked steak. (It's best for a parent to do this part.)

Step 7: Add the slices of steak on top and beneath the chips and cheese.

Step 8: Place the pan in the preheated 375 degree F oven and bake just until the cheese has melted, about 5 minutes.

Step 9: Spoon the salsa over the top and gently arrange the avocado slices.

    Step 10: Serve!
