    Ingredients:

    • whole spelt flour (or whole wheat flour): ½ cup
    • brown sugar: ⅓ cup
    • baking powder: 1 teaspoon
    • ground ginger: 1 ½ teaspoons
    • ground cinnamon: 1 teaspoon
    • allspice: ½ teaspoon
    • maple syrup: ½ cup
    • milk: ¼ cup
    • melted butter (or coconut oil): ½ cup

    Directions:

    Step 1: Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. In a large bowl mix the flour, sugar, baking powder, ground ginger, cinnamon, and allspice together.

    Step 2: Add maple syrup, milk, and melted butter to the bowl. Mix until dough comes together.

    Step 3: Divide dough in half, and roll out in between two pieces of plastic wrap (about 1/8 inch thick).

    Step 4: Cut out desired shapes using a cookie cutter. Transfer to baking sheet.

    Step 6: Sprinkle sugar-ginger mixture over the cookies.

    Step 7: Bake for about 10 minutes, or until golden brown.
