Busy mommies, daddies, and kids love quick and easy art projects and recipes. Rice Krispie Treats are the perfect way to combine both! Everybody wins!
Your kids can work with the Krispies as their art medium and create sculptures (of sorts!) They can make anything they like — from snowmen to cute little animals to just squares or balls! You can use the images here as a guide for Christmas and Hanukkah treats. We brought the menorah to a kid's Hanukkah party last year, and it was a huge hit!
- 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter
- 3 cups small marshmallows
- 5 cups Crispy Brown Rice cereal
In a large pot over medium heat, melt the butter with the marshmallows. Turn off the heat, add the cereal, and stir to coat completely. Let cool so you can touch — but don't let it get too cool or you won't be able mold shapes easily. Have your kids put a little butter on their hands so they won't stick to the cereal. Have fun!
- Chocolate chips
- White frosting for "glue"
- Food coloring
- Melted chocolate
- Sprinkles (all colors and shapes)
- Carrots (tiny pieces)

Erewhon Crispy Brown Rice cereal is gluten-free, and I like that it's made from brown rice. Kellogg's Rice Krispies are just fine, too!
