Lindsay Lohan Refuses Plea Deal; Heading To Trial

Lindsay Lohan is risking it all to prove she's innocent.

Lindsay made the decision yesterday to decline a plea deal that would've meant about 20 days in jail for the theft of a $2500 necklace from a Venice jewelry store.  Her attorney Shawn Holley explained the decision:

"Ms. Lohan has maintained her innocence from the moment this case was filed and she has never wavered. Though many advised her to follow the safe route by taking 'the deal', the truth is, Ms. Lohan is innocent; she has a strong defense; and we are confident that a jury will listen to the evidence fairly and acquit her."

Lindsay will have a preliminary hearing on April 22nd where the judge will determine if there's enough evidence to justify a trial.

A lot of doubt has been placed on the jewelry store owner's story because they have been profiting from the alleged theft.  First they sold footage of the surveillance tape and then reportedly put the necklace up for auction and rumor has it that they even have a book deal in place.

Lindsay is taking a big risk with the trial, as the prosecutor was gunning for a mandatory 6 months in jail, plus Lindsay could wind up in jail during the trial if the judge determines that she violated her DUI probation. She's placing a lot of faith in the legal system at this point.
