Kris Jenner Doesn’t Like the Way ‘Grandma’ Sounds

Sometimes, I look at Jack and I blast off into the future and see myself babysitting his kids (crazy, I know). Here I am, a cool grandma in a denim shirt and cargo shorts wearing Toms shoes and coral lipstick. I finally cut my long hair. But, I never picture them calling me grandma or granny or grandmother. That is so … old and grey and wrinkled. I see myself as a Mimi, Nana, or Nona. But if my grandkids follow suit of my son, I won’t be either.

When Jack was a baby he decided he was going to call my mom, “Mema.” He couldn’t say “Grandma” or was at least trying to and “Mema” popped out. It was super-cute and the name stuck. My mom always thought she’d be “Grandma.” That is what I called her mom. My dad’s mom was called “Nanny.” Sometimes people thought I had a nanny or live-in babysitter when I referred to her. I had nada to do with their names. Both of my grandmothers chose what they wanted and my older brother, Carlo, I assume, just went with it.

As for my grandfather, I called him Poppy and I sadly never knew my dad’s dad because he died before I was born. Jack calls my dad Poppy even though he wanted to be called Poppa. My dad is like Kris Jenner. He had an idea of what he wanted, only he didn’t have the Kris Jenner sass to win the argument—at least not with Mr. Jack.

The momanger to Kim, Kourtney, Khloe, Kendall, Kylie, and Rob revealed that her grandkids, Mason, Penelope and North call her … wait for it … “Lovey!”

“They call me Lovey and Bruce is Grandpa,” she revealed in an interview with The Daily Mail. “At first I was Grandma, and all of a sudden I didn’t like the way that sounded. My mom had a friend called Lovey and I thought that was the cutest name.”

I agree “Lovey” is a cute name, but what do you think: Should Kris have let Mason take the lead and name her? Should she have kept “Grandma?” Do you like “Lovey?”
