Kristen Bell Is Honest About Acceptance Of Post-Baby Body And Weight Loss

New mom Kristen Bell is refusing to obsess over her post-pregnancy body.

Kristen welcomed her daughter Lincoln in late March and already has her first post-baby project all wrapped up.  Just a short time after giving birth Kristen headed off to the set of the movie treatment of her former TV series Veronica Mars. Kristen was excited about getting back to work, but shares that she refused to get worked up over losing the baby weight!

Kristen gained about forty three pounds during her pregnancy and has dropped all but the last fifteen pounds, but she may not care if it’s ever gone completely.  The new mom shared that she’s not defined by her dress size and was perfect okay posing for the cover of next month’s issue of Redbook.

Kristen dished, “I refused to worry about something I could not change, and I still refuse. Look, I’m like any other woman. All this evolved b.s. that I’m telling you is my mantra: It’s not something I practice naturally. I had to surrender to not worrying about the way I looked, how much I weighed, because that’s just part of the journey of having a baby. I am not a woman whose self-worth comes from her dress size.”

It’s a bold statement for a Hollywood mom since the “norm” is for actresses to drop their baby weight almost immediately following the birth of their kids.

Redbook’s editor shared why she felt compelled to go with a post-baby mom for the cover photo.  She feels some obligation after helping to perpetuate the myth that celebrity moms magically revert to a size zero within days of giving birth.  “Magazines certainly haven’t helped, with their covers of celebrities in bikinis, all smiles and hipbones, showing off how thin they’ve gotten just a few months — or even weeks — after giving birth. As the editor of Redbook, I’ll admit I’ve sometimes been part of the problem. But I’m proud of our September cover featuring Kristen Bell, photographed 11 weeks after her daughter, Lincoln, was born.”

What do you think about this current trend of putting pressure on women to lose the baby weight so quickly?  Is it ridiculous and unrealistic?
