DIY: Back To School Zipper Pulls

livingwithpunks

It’s time to start thinking about the kiddos heading back to school!  I know my boys are getting excited and right now, they are all about personalization!

They love their initial on anything they own, so I put together this fun, colorful zipper pull for coats, backpacks or lunch pails.

MATERIALS:

  • Felt scraps
  • Pinking shears
  • Thread and hand sewing needle
  • Key ring
  • Small buttons
  • Sewing machine

INSTRUCTIONS:

Cut your felt pieces:
Background color (orange) Cut 1 at 2.25″x3.5″ and cut 1 at 3″ x1″
From the main color (brown) Cut 1 at 1.5″x3″

Sew the two main pieces together

Fold the remaining strip in half, slip the key chain ring in and sew to the rectangular piece, following the same stitches on the top to secure

Plan your initial out before you begin sewing to make sure it will fit and how many buttons you will use.
Hand sew each button on individually.

Attach to any zipper pull and enjoy the handmade goodness going off to school!
