If you're craving a hot buttered rum, but you aren't drinking, we've got a virgin version that tastes just like the real thing! Satisfying, spicy, and steamy this mocktail has no booze and lots of flavor. Drink it on a winter evening or serve it at a party. Try the recipe below.

Ingredients:

  • ¼ cup softened butter
  • ½ teaspoon garam masala
  • ½ teaspoon cloves
  • ½ cinnamon
  • ½ nutmeg
  • ½ cayenne pepper
  • 8 ounces apple cider
  • cinnamon stick (optional for garnish)

Preparation:

Step 1: Mix each of the spices (feel free to add your own favorites) with the softened butter to make a spiced compound butter. Mix thoroughly.

Step 2: Mold butter into a log by spooning onto plastic wrap and forming it with your hands (use the wrap to protect your hands from the butter. Put butter in fridge to set.

Step 3: Bring cider to a boil on stove and once bubbling carefully pour it into a mug.

Step 4: Slice off a knob of the compound butter and add to the steaming drink along with a cinnamon stick.
