servings: 4 to 6 (as a side dish)
total time: 15 minutes

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup orange juice
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 cups fresh cranberries
  • 1 (11-ounce) can Mandarin oranges, drained
  • 1/4 teaspoon allspice

Preparation:

Step 1: In a medium saucepan over medium heat, dissolve the sugar in the orange juice. Stir in the cranberries and cook until they start to pop (about 10 minutes).

Step 2: Add the oranges and allspice, and simmer for about 5 minutes.

Step 3: Remove from heat, and transfer cranberry to a bowl. The cranberry sauce will thicken as it cools. Serve at room temperature.
